2025 Kia EV9 GT: Powertrain and Suspension
The 2026 Kia EV9 GT features a significantly upgraded powertrain, with its dual-motor all-wheel-drive system now producing 501bhp, compared to the 383bhp in the standard EV9. It uses a 214.5bhp motor at the front and a 362bhp motor at the rear. While Kia aims for a 0 to 100km/h time of 4.3 seconds – 0.7 seconds faster than the standard EV9 GT-Line – the final performance figures could still change before production.
The model also debuts the brand’s first electronically controlled suspension with adaptive damping, adjusting based on the selected driving mode. In GT mode, the suspension is at its firmest setting, while the steering and braking feel are also adjusted. Additionally, the GT model comes standard with an electronic limited-slip differential.
The EV9 GT also includes the Virtual Gear Shift feature, first introduced in the EV6 GT, which simulates gear changes with brief pauses in acceleration. This feature is paired with Active Sound Design to replicate gearshift sounds during acceleration. Drivers can control the gear changes via paddle shifters, much like in traditional automatic transmissions.
