Mercedes-AMG, the performance division of Mercedes-Benz, has unveiled the new CLE 53 4Matic+ Cabriolet. This is the second open-top performance variant in the Mercedes-AMG lineup, following the SL Roadster. Under the hood of the 2025 Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 Cabriolet is the familiar 3.0-litre, 6-cylinder, turbocharged engine, which is accompanied by a 48V starter-generator. This mild-hybrid powertrain setup makes 443bhp and 560Nm of torque thanks to an exhaust turbocharger and an electric auxiliary compressor, but a temporary 'overboost' function increases torque to 600Nm for up to 10 seconds. The 48V integrated starter-generator offers an additional 23bhp and 205Nm of torque, thereby improving efficiency.
The CLE 53 Cabriolet sends the power to all four wheels through the AMG SpeedShift TCT 9G transmission and the fully variable 4Matic+ all-wheel drive system. Other technical bits include the adaptive AMG Ride Control suspension, active rear-axle steering, high-performance brakes with red brake callipers, and AMG modes (Slippery, Comfort, Sport, Sport+).

2025 Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 Cabriolet: Acceleration, Speed
Mercedes-Benz estimates the 0-100 km/h sprint to happen in 4.4 seconds, but the Race Start function (optional as part of the AMG Dynamic Plus package) reduces that number to 4.2 seconds. The top speed is an electronically limited 250km/h, which can optionally bump up to 270km/h.
2025 Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 Cabriolet: Design
Compared to the Mercedes-Benz CLE Cabriolet, the AMG-spec CLE has a wider track front (55mm+) and back (78mm+). Styling changes over the standard version include the signature A-shaped AMG radiator grille, slender LED headlamps, flared wheel arches, sportier bumpers, quad round tailpipes, and two-part LED taillights connected by a dark red stripe. However, it gets the same electrically powered fabric acoustic soft top as the standard model. Available in black, red, or grey colours, the soft top can open and close within 20 seconds at up to 60km/h.
The new AMG vehicle comes standard with 19-inch wheels, while 20 inchers can be had as an optional extra. Speaking of optional bits, the Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 Cabriolet gets sportier accents, a spoiler lip, aerodynamic flics, and a glossy black diffuser between the tailpipes. Moreover, buyers will get to choose from additional customisation options.
2025 Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 Cabriolet: Features
The interior of the AMG-spec CLE 53 Cabriolet includes a 12.3-inch digital instrument display and an 11.9-inch central display in user-friendly portrait format. The latter, according to Mercedes-Benz, can be electrically tilted from 15 to 40 degrees to avoid distracting glare when the soft top is down. The car also gets 64-colour dynamic ambient lighting and sports seats upholstered in AMG-specific Nappa leather, as well as the Aircap electric wind deflector system and the Airscarf headroom heating system.

The 2025 Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 Cabriolet will hit the US market in the second half of this year. While the pricing is yet to be announced, this AMG model is expected to be priced more than its Coupe counterpart.
