Volkswagen has recently unveiled the 2024 Golf for the global market. It comes with many upgrades, including an improved infotainment system, a sleeker and more streamlined design, and mechanical tweaks for better performance. While it has maintained its signature louvered design, the front bumper now features a larger and narrower air inlet. The updated bumper with a sportier look is also featured on the GTI and GTE models. The body-coloured inserts have been modified and the upper edge of the air intake is now less prominent. Furthermore, the car's headlamps have been slimmed down, contributing to its more sophisticated and attractive appearance. Minor adjustments to the bumper and updated taillight internals are among the other changes made at the back. Here are some more updates on the changes made to the 2024 iteration of the Volkswagen Golf.
2024 Volkswagen Golf: Mechanical and Interior Highlights
Regarding the technical enhancements, the base Golf lineup comprises a 2.0-litre TSI engine and a 1.5-litre TSI turbo-petrol motor that is available in both non-hybrid and mildly hybrid versions. With 13bhp more than the previous generation, the former engine setup (2.0-litre TSI) now produces 201bhp, while the 1.5-litre TSI engines offer between 114bhp and 148bhp. Further, two 2.0-litre TDI engines have 114bhp and 148bhp of power, each.
Powertrain modifications to the GTI and GTE variants are the most substantial. The 2.0-litre TSI engine now generates 20bhp more than earlier, while the torque stays the same.
In addition, the GTE's all-electric range is expanded to 100 kilometres with a bigger 19.7kWh battery pack and an extra 20bhp to 268bhp. There is also a regular plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) version, which comes with the identical 1.5-litre TSI unit coupled with an electric motor. It produces a decreased 201bhp.
