Renault, the well-known French auto manufacturer, is gearing up to introduce its all-new Kardian SUV on October 25. Before arriving in other emerging markets, this SUV will first enter the Brazilian market. A couple of months ago, patent pictures of the Kardian surfaced on the internet, providing a sneak preview of the SUV's design even though the official reveal is just around the corner. Notably, Brazil will be the primary consumer market for Renault's Kardian. The new iteration of the model will compete against recently unveiled small SUVs from other companies, such as Fiat's Pulse, in South American countries where Dacia is not yet available for sale. The Kardian borrows the same CMF-B platform, a few body panels, and the drivetrain from the Dacia Sandero Stepway while incorporating unique SUV styling touches. Here's what we know so far about the new Kardian.

2024 Renault Kardian SUV: Exterior and Interior Highlights

The Kardian will likely sport split headlamps up front with a double-layer grille, a tall bumper with contrasting black parts, and a faux brushed aluminum skidplate, according to patent photos. The upcoming model will have a bodyshell that appears like a coupe-SUV from the side, more ground clearance than the Sandero, and hefty cladding on the wheel arches and running boards to further enhance its tough SUV looks. The taillights will be C-shaped and feature a Kiger-like appearance at the rear. A shark-fin antenna, attractive alloy wheels, roof rails, and additional chrome accents will be seen on higher editions.

Renault Kardian 2024 Interior Teaser

Just a few days back, Renault released a new teaser that gives us a look inside the B-segment vehicle. As anticipated, the cabin has a slightly more upscale appearance than that of the Dacia Sandero Stepway, earning the new Renault badge on the steering wheel. A fully digital instrument cluster and ambient lighting on the upper portion of the front door cards with configurable colours are standout interior features of the 2024 Kardian. While the bottom spokes of the steering wheel have metallic accents, there's also a more appealing, smaller gear selector for the automatic transmission. Moreover, the crossover will be equipped with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system and selectable driving modes.

2024 Renault Kardian SUV: Anticipated Powertrain

It is unknown if the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that will power the Kardian will be the same as the one found on the Kiger and the Magnite in India. The SUV will sit underneath the second-generation Duster, which is presently available for purchase in Brazil.

The likelihood of the Kardian coming to the Indian shores is low. The substantially localised Kiger, built especially for the domestic market, is already sold by Renault in India. Additionally, the Renault Kiger is modelled on the same CMF-A+ platform as the Nissan Magnite and the Renault Triber. The new Kardian, however, is based on the CMF-B platform. Furthermore, the Kardian will be manufactured at the carmaker's plant in Brazil.

Renault India: Future Plans

Although the automaker doesn't have any plans to release the Kardian in our country, the company will roll out the all-new Duster in the next two years. By 2025, the third-generation Renault Duster, which is anticipated to be larger and perhaps feature a three-row seating arrangement, might begin arriving in dealerships across India. The firm also has ambitions to add electric vehicles to its lineup in India.
