The cutting-edge technology and affordability factors have made both models quite popular in India. A couple of days ago, Maruti Suzuki launched the fourth-generation Swift in our market. The 2024 model features an updated suspension setup, a redesigned exterior, and a new three-cylinder engine, which replaces the previous four-pot K-Series engine. Let's start with the new Maruti Suzuki Swift's variants and prices. It comes in five different versions: LXi, VXi, ZXi, ZXi Plus, and ZXI Plus DT. The ex-showroom prices of the new model range from Rs 6.49 lakh to Rs 9.64 lakh. Meanwhile, the Tata Tiago is available in XE, XM, XT, XZ, and XZA plus variants, with ex-showroom prices ranging from Rs 5.65 lakh to Rs 8.90 lakh.

In terms of dimensions, the Swift is 3,860mm long, 1,735mm wide, 1,520mm tall, and has a 2,450mm wheelbase. On the other hand, the Tiago measures 3,765mm in length, 1,677mm in width, and 1,537mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,400mm.

Coming to the engine options, the new Swift is equipped with a 1.2-litre three-cylinder naturally aspirated Z-Series petrol engine. The unit produces 112Nm of peak torque and 80bhp of maximum power. The transmission options include a 5-speed manual and an AMT. The new Swift has a claimed fuel efficiency of 24.8km/l for the MT versions and 25.75km/l for the AMT ones. It is currently not available with CNG.
Like the Swift, the Tiago is also powered by a 1.2-litre three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, developing 85bhp of maximum power and 113Nm of torque. On the transmission front, customers can choose between a 5-speed manual and an AMT. The hatchback is also available in a CNG option, with the segment-first automatic transmission. An electric variant is also on offer, called the Tiago.ev, which comes with two battery pack configurations.

In terms of features, both cars are well-equipped. The Swift features a 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, connected car technology with over 40 features, an Arkamys sound system, a wireless charger, LED headlights, a semi-digital cluster with 4.2-inch MID, rear AC vents, LED fog lamps, cruise control, auto climate control, push-button start/stop, steering-mounted controls, a rear camera, and power-adjustable and folding wing mirrors. The safety suite comprises six airbags, ISOFIX anchors, rear parking sensors, ABS with EBD, hill start assist, and ESC.
On the other hand, the Tiago's feature list includes a 7.0-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a Harman audio system, a digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, drive modes, and electrically adjustable and foldable wing mirrors. For safety, it features dual airbags, ABS, EBD, rear parking sensors, and a camera.
