While South Korean manufacturer Kia is readying its petrol-powered compact SUV (likely to be called Syros), it is also working on the new EV3 compact electric SUV. In about a week, that electric SUV will make its global debut. From a set of teaser images released a few days back, it can be said that the new Kia EV3 embodies a new, modern design philosophy called 'Opposites United', like the flagship EV9. Though it has a boxy design similar to the concept car showcased last year, the Kia EV3 features updates in the form of revised bumpers and LED internals. Along with these, the car also gets angular headlamps and signature Star Map lighting. The Kia EV3 comes in two variants – Standard and sportier-looking GT Line.

Kia EV3: Interior
The interior of the new Kia EV3 follows the design direction laid down by other newer Kia electric vehicles, albeit with minimalism. It incorporates a few physical buttons, resulting in a clean and clutter-free dashboard, which houses a digital instrument console and a touchscreen infotainment system. Besides, the car could offer leather-free materials and enhanced interior space.
Kia EV3: Underpinnings, Powertrain
Though the technical details are under wraps, expect the Kia EV3 to use the electric E-GMP platform, which can offer different powertrain and battery options (likely to be 58kWh and 77.4kWh in sizes). However, Kia will likely employ the 400V electrical architecture in the EV3 to keep the cost down. The front-driven entry-level models should pack a single electric motor, while higher-spec variants should get a dual-motor setup.

Kia EV3: Availability
The Kia EV3 will be globally revealed on May 23, 2024, and its sales will commence later this year. However, it remains to be seen whether this vehicle will make it to the Indian market. And if it does, the new Compact SUV will rival the Hyundai Creta, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, and Kia Seltos in the segment.
