Kia launched the facelifted Carnival MPV in early October in India, and while the company shared powertrain details of the MPV, its fuel efficiency number was not declared then. In the latest development, Kia has officially revealed the ARAI-certified fuel efficiency figure of the new Carnival. And it is rated at 14.85km/l, up by 0.95km/l. This makes the updated Carnival more fuel-efficient than its predecessor, even though the powertrain setup remains the same – a 2.2-litre, four-cylinder, CRDi turbocharged diesel engine with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The diesel engine in the new Carnival utilises aluminium, while the engine in the outgoing model was based on a cast iron block. The power and torque figures stand at 193bhp and 441Nm, respectively. The previous model made 200bhp and 440Nm of peak torque.

In its new avatar, the MPV brings an updated SUV-like design, an overhauled cabin, and lots of equipment, carrying a price tag of Rs 63.90 lakh (ex-showroom). Unlike the outgoing model, the new-generation Carnival comes in a seven-seat configuration.
