Jeep has been gradually preparing to effectively enter the electric car market and has left all of its options open in terms of drive development. With the new Wagoneer S, the renowned SUV maker has now formally committed to electrification. The e-SUV is intended to compete with the highly successful Tesla Model Y, which continues to be the most popular electric vehicle in the world. However, the Jeep SUV is almost in the next car class as the Wagoneer S is around 140mm longer. Built in Mexico, it will initially be available in a Launch Edition version. The Wagoneer S is developed on the STLA Large platform, which is also the foundation for the upcoming Dodge Charger EV. Jeep hasn't mentioned a gas-powered model as of yet, but this adaptable architecture is designed to accommodate both ICE and BEV drivetrains.

2024 Jeep Wagoneer: Powertrain and Charging Details
A dual-motor all-wheel-drive system with 592bhp of maximum power and 836.5Nm of torque is available for the Wagoneer S, at least for the Launch Edition version. This setup allows for a 0-100km/h acceleration time of 3.4 seconds. So, in comparison to the smaller Tesla Model Y Performance, the Wagoneer S is faster. It can accelerate quicker than the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk with a Hellcat engine, making it the fastest Jeep ever.
The battery is a 100kwh lithium-ion cell with a 400-volt capacity. According to Jeep, using a DC fast-charger, the battery can be charged from 20 to 80% in 23 minutes, with an estimated EPA range of over 483 km. When travelling steadily, such as when cruising on the highway, the front motor can disengage to help increase range. Jeep's Selec-Terrain driving mode selector, which includes modes for conditions like snow and sand, helps the Wagoneer S navigate tough terrain well.
2024 Jeep Wagoneer: Design and Dimensions
The Wagoneer S's exterior appearance is in line with contemporary Jeep styling. But compared to a standard Jeep, the SUV has a more aerodynamic silhouette to enhance efficiency. The swept-back grille with LED accents is the most striking feature. It contributes to the Wagoneer S's low coefficient drag rating of 0.29, the lowest of any Jeep and comparatively low for a car in this segment.
When it comes to dimensions, the Wagoneer S measures 4,887mm in length, 1,900mm in width, (2,123mm when counting the mirrors), and 1,646mm in height. The wheelbase and ground clearance stands at 2,870mm and 162mm, respectively. Moreover, the frunk has a capacity of 58 litres, while the trunk has 484 litres of storage capacity.
2024 Jeep Wagoneer: Cabin Layout
Jeep is also entirely relying on a more contemporary approach when it comes to interior layout. The cockpit features screens big enough for a 45-inch usable interface area in addition to "a segment-exclusive interactive passenger screen." Nevertheless, this is divided among several integrated panels because the car is centered around a 12.3-inch display, which is surrounded by three more screens.
The additional screens can be turned off for safety reasons, although the large screen area may still distract drivers. With 19 built-in speakers, the Wagoneer S provides an impressive entertainment system. A level 2 automatic driving system indicates that the company is keeping the door open for the technology, even though autonomous driving features are not yet fully functioning on European roads.
2024 Jeep Wagoneer: Price

The Wagoneer S is priced between the existing Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer ranges, starting at USD 64,945 (around Rs 54.09 lakh) and USD 93,945 (about Rs 78.25 lakh) for the 2024 model year, respectively.
