The Hyundai Ioniq 5 has undergone a significant update for international markets, unveiling the 2024 model with notable enhancements. Among the most noticeable changes is the bigger battery capacity, which is an important upgrade. Along with the update, Hyundai has also added a new model called N Line, which falls between the base model and the most expensive Ioniq 5. With an improved electric vehicle battery pack that could deliver more range. Even though Hyundai Motor hasn't said exactly how far the new battery will go, it is believed that it will make the car run better overall.
2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5: Design
Small changes have been made to the Ioniq 5, mostly to the grille, front bumper, and back bumper. The electric car's width, height, and wheelbase have not changed, but it is now 20 mm longer. As part of the facelift, the wheels have been updated and a rear wiper is added for extra convenience. Notably, the Ioniq 5 N Line model stands out because it has a more assertive look. It has unique bumpers, side skirts and 20-inch aluminium wheels that give it a more aggressive look overall compared to the normal model.
2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5: Interior
New to the Ioniq 5's updated cabin are physical buttons that have been thoughtfully placed to provide quick access to features like heated steering, park assist, first-row heating and ventilation, and ventilation. Notable upgrades include a repositioned wireless charging position for easier access and the updated steering system's incorporation of dynamic pixel lighting. In addition, the infotainment system may now receive updates through Over-The-Air (OTA). The body's rigidity has been enhanced thanks to the addition of reinforced doors and B-pillars, among other safety improvements.
The N Line model has a sporty and branded look thanks to the prominent N badging on the dashboard, upholstery and steering wheel. The addition of metal pedals further highlights the N Line variant's performance-oriented nature.
2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5: Powertrain
While Hyundai has confirmed that the upgraded Ioniq 5 will have the larger 84 kWh battery pack, the exact information on the enhanced electric vehicle (EV) range is yet unknown. With these upgrades, the driving ability should be much improved, and the ARAI-rated 631km range of the existing model should be easily surpassed. Improvements to the dampers have helped reduce steering wheel vibrations, while Hyundai has double-reinforced the back and undercarriage to reduce noise and added sound insulation to make the cabin quieter.
The debut of the facelift in India has not been announced by the Korean automaker, but it is anticipated to hit the market soon. The current price of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 in India is Rs 45.95 lakh (ex-showroom).
