Based on the same platform as the City sedan, the updated hatchback comes with a few cosmetic upgrades in the form of a tweaked front grille with a new mesh insert, revised front and rear bumpers with RS sport design, a diffuser-like rear element, a blacked-out lower apron, newly designed 16-inch black wheels, a two-toned roof, and LED lighting for headlamps and tail lamps, all depending on the variant selected. Meanwhile, its colour options include Brilliant Sporty Blue Metallic with a black roof (RS and SV only), Ignite Red Metallic (RS only), Crystal Black Pearl, Meteoroid Gray Metallic, Sonic Gray Pearl, Tafetta White (S+ only), and Platinum White Pearl (SV and RS variants).
2024 Honda City hatchback: Interior
On the inside, the City hatchback shares almost the same interior as the sedan. The 2024 City hatchback, however, gets two USB-C charging ports as well as a smartphone inner pocket for rear passengers. Other bits include the Honda Sensing suite with two new ADAS features – Low-Speed Follow and Lead Car Departure notification, a 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster, an 8.0-inch Advanced Touch audio system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, electronic parking brake, rain-sensing wipers, remote engine start, walk-away auto lock function, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, and others.
2024 Honda City hatchback: Powertrain
Under the hood, the new City hatchback gets a 1.0-litre inline-three VTEC Turbo petrol engine as well as an Intelligent Multi-Mode Drive (i-MMD) hybrid setup. The former, equipped with a turbocharger, delivers 122bhp at 5,500rpm and 173Nm of peak torque at 2,000-4,500rpm. Transmission duties are taken care of by a CVT unit.
The latter, on the other hand, comprises a 98bhp 1.5-litre Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder DOHC i-VTEC gasoline engine, a 109bhp electric motor, and a lithium-ion battery pack. This setup is coupled with an Electrical Continuously Variable Transmission and an advanced two-motor system controlling three driving modes – EV, Hybrid, and Engine.
2024 Honda City hatchback: India Launch?
At the moment, the 2024 Honda City hatchback is priced from THB 5,99,000 to THB 7,99,000 in Thailand. It will go on sale in the Malaysian market soon. As far as India goes, it is unlikely to make its way here as there has been a greater preference for an SUV than a hatchback.
Honda Lineup in India
