Honda Cars India recently launched the new-gen Amaze at a starting price of Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom, introductory). Notably, the new Amaze is India’s first compact sedan and the most affordable car in the country to feature ADAS. It also introduces the lane-watch camera, positioned below the left ORVM, which displays the feed on the infotainment system. Additionally, it is the only compact sedan in India equipped with a CVT. When it comes to rivals, the updated Honda model takes on several formidable competitors such as the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, the Hyundai Aura, and the Tata Tigor. The updated Honda Amaze will be offered in three variants: V, VX, and ZX. For the first 45 days, the entry-level V variant will be priced at Rs 8 lakh, while the top-of-the-line ZX variant will be available for Rs 10.89 lakh.

An attractive offering from Hyundai in the compact sedan segment, the Aura is priced starting at Rs 6.48 lakh and goes up to Rs 9.04 lakh, offering buyers a variety of options within this price range. All mentioned prices are ex-showroom figures.

In terms of dimensions, the new-gen Amaze measures 3,955mm in length, 1,733mm in width, and 1,500mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,470mm.

Coming to the Aura, the sedan maintains the same length as the Amaze while standing 1,520mm tall and 1,680mm wide. Moreover, it has a wheelbase of 2,450mm. Therefore, the new-gen Amaze is 53mm wider and boasts a 20mm longer wheelbase compared to the Aura. On the other hand, the Aura is 20mm taller than the Amaze.

New Honda Amaze Rear

The 2024 Honda Amaze immediately stands out with its refreshed look, featuring a broader front grille, updated LED DRLs, and a prominent chrome strip across the bonnet. In contrast, the Hyundai Aura presents a softer, more rounded front design compared to the Amaze's bold, muscular profile. The Aura’s bumper-mounted LED DRLs and dual-part front grille help distinguish it from its hatchback variant. From the side, both sedans maintain a sporty aesthetic, but the Aura’s multi-spoke alloy wheels offer a more refined look than the Amaze’s. The Aura’s profile is further accentuated by a blacked-out window line, while the Amaze features a more utilitarian design that can be upgraded with chrome accents.

Moving on to the rear, the Aura carries a more dynamic appearance, especially with its boot-mounted spoiler, whereas the Amaze’s updated rear end echoes that of the Honda City. Both vehicles feature shark fin antennas and LED taillights, with the Aura’s connected by a chrome strip, giving it a more upscale finish.

On the mechanical front, the 2025 Honda Amaze is equipped with a 1.2-litre petrol engine, producing 89bhp and 110Nm of torque. It offers two transmission options: a five-speed manual and a CVT automatic. The Japanese carmaker might also introduce a CNG variant soon.

The Hyundai Aura also houses a 1.2-litre petrol engine, available with a factory-fitted CNG kit. In CNG mode, this unit belts out 68bhp and 95Nm, while in standard petrol mode, it develops 82bhp and 114Nm of peak torque. Transmission choices include a five-speed manual and an AMT.

New Honda Amaze Interior

The entry-level V variant of the Amaze comes packed with features like steering-mounted controls, a 4-speaker audio system, full LED lighting, a 7-inch TFT instrument cluster, and an 8-inch infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, along with a USB charging port. The higher-tier variant upgrades the equipment list, adding a LaneWatch camera, lane-keeping assist, the Honda Sensing ADAS package, adaptive cruise control, road departure mitigation, and other advanced technologies. Additionally, it includes standard features such as Hill Start Assist and six airbags for enhanced safety.

The Aura comes with a wireless charger, rear AC vents, adjustable rear headrests, automatic climate control, and an 8.0-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The fabric upholstery features the Aura emblem. Other features include a chrome-finished gear knob, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a gear knob, a parking lever tip, and metal-finish interior door handles. Higher-spec variants offer additional touches, such as upgraded footwell lighting, a 3.5-inch MID in the instrument cluster, and Type-C charging ports for added convenience.
