The fourth-gen MINI Cooper has been officially teased. The global debut of the new three-door hatchback is expected sometime early next year, which will be soon followed by its five-door version.
MINI has officially released a few teaser images of its fourth-generation three-door Cooper. The 2023 iteration of the MINI Cooper will be based on an all-new platform, which will be flexible enough to accommodate both the IC engine and an EV powertrain. What gives away that the new Cooper will have an electric powertrain is a green stripe on the license plate visible in the teaser images. Also, the BMW-owned firm has already confirmed that MINI expects 50 per cent of sales to be generated from its EV portfolio by 2027.
So far, the specs are not available, but we can expect an enthusiastically tuned turbo petrol motor with the 2023 Cooper. That said, MINI is expected to release the last generation of its IC engine by 2025. Most likely, there will soon be a 2023 MINI Cooper with a John Cooper Works badge, which will sport uprated internals and a more powerful engine. On the other hand, a standard five-door 2023 MINI Cooper is likely to break cover sometime next year, which will mostly feature similar drivetrain options as the three-door version.
The new 2023 MINI Cooper is likely to make its global debut by the end of the year. The official international launch of the fourth-gen MINI Cooper will probably be held in the Q1 of 2022.
MINI is likely to launch the three-door 2023 Cooper in India by late next year. Currently, MINI India is focusing on the launch of the all-electric Cooper SE. The firm has already commenced bookings for it, and its launch is expected to happen by the end of the month.
