MG Motor has officially revealed the pricing and specification of its new all-electric hatchback, ahead of the vehicle's first public debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed (July 13-16). Christened the MG4 EV XPower, it is claimed to be the company's most powerful production car to date. The performance-oriented version of the MG4EV with the XPower moniker will retail at a starting price of € 36,495 (around Rs 32.77 lakh), with the company opening its order books starting July in the UK. The hot hatch is based on the Modular Scalable Platform (MSP) and comes powered by a much-anticipated dual-motor engine, which cranks out 429bhp of combined output and up to 600Nm of peak torque.
The 2023 MG4 EV has a 201bhp front and 228bhp rear motor, allowing a 0 to 100km/h acceleration time of 3.8 seconds when a new launch control feature is engaged. This makes it the fastest-accelerating hatch, just like the Audi RS3 - which carries a starting price of € 54,050 (around Rs 48.52 lakh).

2023 MG4 EV XPower: Technical Bits
The new MG4 EV XPower gets technological upgrades in the form of an all-new dynamic cornering control system, through which power is sent to all four wheels. This system includes an electronic locking differential and Intelligent Motor Control. In terms of suspension, the EV receives recalibrated spring and dampers, stiffer anti-roll bars, and sharper steering, giving a 25 per cent stiffer suspension. Other bits include a set of 345mm discs on all wheels, Bridgestone Turanza tyres, and recalibrated regenerative braking software.
2023 MG4 EV XPower: Design
Design-wise, the XPower receives subtle enhancements and therefore looks quite similar to the regular MG4 EV. These include orange XPower brake callipers, a two-tone black roof, new 18-inch alloy wheels with polished trim accents, and an exclusive Racing Green colour option.
MG Motor India pulled covers from the all-electric MG4 at the 2023 Auto Expo. One of MG's first born-electric production vehicles, the MG4 EV is built on the parent company’s SAIC modular scalable platform. Dimensionally, the EV boasts 4,287mm of length and 2,705mm of wheelbase. Overall, the EV is nearly the same size as the MG ZS EV, which is currently on sale in India. The design inspiration for the EV has been reportedly taken from the MG Cyberster Roadster concept.
