The launch of Mercedes-Benz's new SUV, the GLC, is scheduled for the 9th of August, 2023. The German luxury carmaker has now started accepting bookings for the vehicle. Indian buyers planning to buy the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC SUV can make reservations at a token amount of Rs 1.50 lakh at either any Mercedes-Benz India dealership or on the company's official website. Upon its launch in the Indian market, the second-generation GLC will compete with the likes of the BMW X3 and Audi Q5. It will go on sale in two different variants – the GLC 300 4Matic and the GLC 220d 4Matic. According to the automaker, the 4Matic all-wheel-drive technology will be offered as standard with the GLC SUV, which is claimed to provide outstanding traction on all terrains.

New Mercedes-Benz GLC SUV: Mechanical Specifications
The GLC will be offered with both petrol and diesel engine options. Both variants will be powered by a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine with 48V mild-hybrid technology as standard. Overseas, the petrol-spec GLC 300 4Matic cranks out 254bhp and 400Nm of peak torque, while the diesel-spec GLC 220d 4Matic produces 194bhp and 440Nm. Power and torque figures for the Indian market haven’t been revealed yet. The engines will be paired with a 9G-Tronic automatic gearbox as standard.

The upcoming GLC will come with the latest NTG7 infotainment system, which is also available with the C-Class. Mercedes says that the GLC will be its first SUV to get the NTG7 system. In comparison to the outgoing model, the new GLC will offer more cabin space and boot storage.
Furthermore, the SUV will house a revised dashboard with three AC vents. There will be an 11.9-inch vertically aligned touchscreen infotainment system, a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a panoramic sunroof, a Burmester audio system with 15 speakers, ventilated front seats, wireless charging, fresh upholstery, etc.

Dimensionally, the second-generation GLC is larger than its predecessor. It measures 4,716mm in length, 2,075mm in width, and 1,650mm in height and has a 2,888mm long wheelbase – 15mm longer than the outgoing version.

In terms of appearance, the latest GLC features an updated design with a large grille, new LED headlamps, horizontal LED daytime running lights, chrome door handles, new dual-tone alloy wheels, an integrated spoiler, a revamped rear bumper, a long rear overhang, a new LED taillight set-up, and more.

New Mercedes-Benz GLC SUV: Price
In terms of pricing, expect the latest GLC to retail between Rs 65 lakh and Rs 75 lakh (ex-showroom). Upon its launch, the SUV will go up against the likes of the Audi Q5, BMW X3, and Volvo XC60 in India.
