2023 Hyundai Verna Safety Features Unveiled; Gets Level 2 ADAS and More

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has disclosed the list of safety features available with the updated Verna. The sedan will comprise 30 standard features, level 2 ADAS, and other passive features, bringing the total of the same to over 65.

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has recently revealed the standard safety features of the new-generation Hyundai Verna 2023, which include the ADAS Level 2 and 30 standard features. The new Hyundai Verna is scheduled to go on sale on March 21. Bookings are currently open for a nominal fee of Rs 25,000 both online and at authorised dealerships. 'The all-new Hyundai Verna perfectly reflects this vision and will boast of a comprehensive safety feature package of 30 standard safety features. Additionally, as we transition closer to delivering futuristic mobility experiences, the all-new Hyundai Verna will also be equipped with Hyundai SmartSense – Level 2 ADAS that will create a new benchmark in this segment,' said, Tarun Garg, COO, Hyundai Motor India Ltd., commenting on this recent update. 2023 Hyundai Verna: ADAS Features

The all-new Verna will come with a variety of ADAS features, owing to two radar sensors positioned at the front and rear of the vehicle. In low-visibility situations, like dense fog and heavy rain, the front sensor can help prevent collisions by detecting obstacles in front of the vehicle. The ADAS's safety features include safe exit warning, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, driver attention warning, car forward collision-avoidance assist, lane keeping assist, pedestrian forward collision-avoidance assist, blind-spot collision-avoidance assist, bicycle forward collision-avoidance assist, blind-spot collision warning, and junction turning forward collision-avoidance assist.

The Level 2 ADAS also includes other driving convenience features, like high beam assistance, smart cruise control with stop & lane following assist, rear cross-traffic collision warning, and avoidance assist, which is also functional while parking.

 2023 Hyundai Verna: Safety Features

Automakers are constantly enhancing the safety of cars, as it has become a hot topic in India. The updated Hyundai Verna will have 30 safety features as standard. These features include seat belt reminder (all seats), keyless entry, burglar alarm, rear parking sensor, rear defogger, lane change indicator, headlamp escort function, ISOFIX, Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), impact sensing auto door unlock, six airbags (driver, passenger, side & curtain), speed sensing auto door lock, ABS (Anti-lock braking system) with EBD, all 3-Point Seatbelts (all seats), and automatic headlamps.

2023 Hyundai Verna: Advanced Safety Features

The advanced safety features offered with the new Verna include Hyundai SmartSense, six airbags (driver, passenger, side & curtain), TPMS (Highline), ESC (Electronic Stability Control) with VSM, cornering lamps, Hill Start Assist Control (HAC), ECM (electrochromic mirror), all disc brakes, front parking sensors, and EPB (electric parking brake). 

2023 Hyundai Verna: Powertrain Details

The 2023 Verna will be available with a new 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated (NA) petrol engine. The available transmissions for the NA and Turbo petrol engines are 6-speed manual transmission and IVT automatic, respectively.

2023 Hyundai Verna: Interior and Features

The sedan will have a fully digital instrument panel and a 10.25-inch infotainment display. The system will be connected to an eight-speaker Bose Premium Sound system. Hyundai has also included a switchable infotainment and climate control panel for the first time. The Verna will have heated and ventilated front seats, making it a suitable vehicle for the Indian weather.

2023 Hyundai Verna: Expected Price and Rivals

When the updated Verna arrives in the Indian market on March 21, the existing cars will undoubtedly face stiff competition from it, given the number of features it will offer.

The cost of the next-generation sedan is expected to be in the range of Rs 9.99 lakh to Rs 17 lakh. The outgoing model costs between Rs 9.64 lakh and Rs 15.72 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom. The Hyundai Verna will compete with the likes of the new 2023 Honda City, Volkswagen Virtus, Skoda Slavia, and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.
