The 2023 Verna from Hyundai has just been launched, with prices ranging between Rs 10.90 lakh and Rs 17.38 lakh (ex-showroom). The sedan offers updated luxury and safety features along with new options for its powertrain. The new Verna has a segment-leading wheelbase of 2,670mm and is just slightly longer than its rivals at 4,535mm. For comparison, the wheelbase of the all-new Honda City is 2,600mm, while that of the Volkswagen Virtus and the Skoda Slavia is 2,651mm. The 2023 Verna's increased size also ensures that it boasts the best width (1,765mm), which will give it more shoulder space than its contenders, and the segment's largest boot space (528 litres). The all-new Verna looks very little like its predecessor from the front and back. It has EV-like long, swooping lines and an LED setup that almost completely fills the car's width. Read on to know more about the new Verna's features, specs, rivals, and more.

2023 Hyundai Verna: Interior and Features

Soft-touch materials are used on the dashboard and door trims of the new Verna, and the interior is dual-tone beige-black. A 64-colour ambient light strip that runs across the dashboard and door trims is also available for the model. Additionally, depending on the selected driving mode, the colour can be changed. The Verna offers heated and ventilated front seats, a first for the segment, as well as front AC vents that are integrated into the dashboard design. Climate control knobs that also function as infotainment controls are located in the centre console.

2023 Hyundai Verna Interior

For some variants of the 2023 Hyundai Verna, the Advanced Driver Assistant System (ADAS) is available. According to the carmaker, it includes approximately 17 level 2 ADAS capabilities powered by Hyundai SmartSense. The new ADAS features will be similar to those found in Hyundai's most recent Tucson SUV model. Some of these include rear cross-traffic alert, high beam assistance, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, blind spot monitoring, and driver attentiveness warning.

Following the recently launched Honda City facelift, the Verna will be India's second sedan to offer ADAS technology. Its features also include electronic parking brakes, a tyre pressure monitoring system, electronic stability control, vehicle stability management, and hill-start assist control.

The automaker has installed a brand-new two-spoke steering wheel in the updated Verna that has never been seen in a Hyundai model before. It has buttons with multiple functions and haptic feedback. Apart from English and Korean, the driver's unit can display turn-by-turn directions with the option to choose from more than ten regional languages.

2023 Hyundai Verna: Engine, Gearbox, and Mileage

The 1.5-litre NA unit and the 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol unit are the two engine options for the 2023 Hyundai Verna. Both a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT gearbox are available as options for the transmission. The turbocharged 1.5-litre engine will churn out 158bhp and 253Nm, while the standard 1.5-litre engine will deliver a maximum power output of 113bhp and 144Nm of peak torque. The auto manufacturer asserts a fuel efficiency of 18.6km/l (MT) and 19.6km/l (IVT).

With fuel efficiency ratings of 20.6km/l for the DCT and 20km/l for the manual, Hyundai asserts that the turbo petrol engine will be more efficient than naturally aspirated powertrains despite having a higher output. For those unaware, with the Verna, Hyundai does not offer a diesel engine.
