The Creta, Astor, Seltos, Taigun and Kushaq will soon face stiff competition from the new S-Cross. The Crossover-SUV has been updated with a new platform, new engine and a host of new features.
Suzuki Motors has taken the wraps off its new 2022 S-Cross. The new crossover-SUV is based on a new platform, gets a new power plant, and the styling is all new as well.
Speaking of the styling first, the new S-Cross gets an all-new fascia. The grille has grown in size and the new all-LED headlamps are sleeker than before. The bumpers are reworked as well. The overall appearance of the 2022 S-Cross is very similar to the outgoing XL6.
The rear end gets new styling bits too. A gloss black panel on the tail which runs across the width of the crossover is very similarly styled as the one on the Volkswagen Taigun. Despite the newly styled front and the rear end, the overall silhouette of the new Suzuki S-Cross is, unchanged.
As for the interiors, the cabin has seen minor changes as well. The 9-inch infotainment screen takes the centre stage. Apart from the centre console, the overall cabin appears a lot similar to the outgoing model. The seats and the door cards do not showcase a drastic change over the ones in the outgoing model. Unfortunately, the new S-Cross also features the make steering wheel as the current model on sale. The instrument cluster is a part-digital unit which features a MID in the centre.
The new S-Cross also features a host of driver aids such as traffic-sign recognition, autonomous emergency braking system, adaptive cruise control, blindspot monitoring system, lane departure prevention, and parking sensors on either end of the car. Other features include a 360-degree camera, panoramic sunroof and two-zone climate control.
The engine on offer is a 1.4-litre turbo petrol motor which is paired to a 48volt mild-hybrid system. The engine churns out a respectable 125bhp and 235Nm of torque. The gearbox options are six-speed manual and automatic which will come paired to an (All-Grip) all-wheel-drive system.
Maruti Suzuki is likely to ditch the all-wheel-drive system when it launches the new S-Cross in India. However, most above mentioned features will be offered with the new 2022 Maruti Suzuki S-Cross, bringing the crossover at par with the competition. It will rival the likes of the MG Astor, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, and Volkswagen Taigun.
Expect the new 2022 Maruti Suzuki S-Cross to be launched in India by mid-2022 with prices starting from Rs. 10 lakh (ex-showroom).
