The all-new Land Rover Range Rover is likely to make its India debut early next year. Bookings for the new Land Rover are likely to commence by December, and its price tag could be close to Rs 2.3 Crore.
The all-new fifth-gen Range Rover, which broke cover just a few weeks ago, has already been listed on the marque’s India website. This means that Jaguar-Land Rover (JLR) will launch the fifth-gen Range Rover in India very soon. Bookings for the new luxury SUV are likely to commence by December, most likely followed by a price announcement by January 2022.
The standard-wheelbase model is likely to debut first. The long-wheelbase Range Rover may enter the market at a later stage. That said, the new standard-wheelbase Range Rover has a 75mm longer wheelbase than that of the outgoing model. Also, for the first time, the Range Rover will be sold as a seven-seat SUV. The maker has incorporated a third-row of seats, exploiting the 5.25 meters of length of the new Range Rover to the maximum.
The new Range Rover is based on the Modular Longitudinal Architecture or MLA-Flex platform, which is suitable for all three – petrol, diesel, and all-electric – powerplants. Currently, the Range Rover is offered with straight-six 3.0-litre petrol and diesel mills, in different states of tune. There are also two Plug-in-Hybrid (PHEV) models, which feature a 38.2kWh battery pack, which powers a 141bhp motor. At the moment, we’re unclear about the variant that JLR will introduce, or whether it will sell the new SUV only in select variants.
The 2022 Range Rover, when launched in India, could see a price tag north of Rs 2.3 Crore (ex-showroom). The new SUV will mainly rival the Mercedes-Benz Maybach GLS, which costs Rs 2.43 Crore.
