The Alto K10 is all ready to take on the Renault Kwid in India and here's how the two rank against each other on paper.
The 2022 Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 has been launched in India. In its new avatar, the car arrives with a host of new features and a new engine as well. While the badge has dominated its segment for quite some time now, the Renault Kwid has proved to been a major rival, popping frequently on the second spot. So here's how the two fair against each other on paper.

As you can see in the table above, the Alto K10 is the smaller car of the two. In its new avatar, the car is based on the 5th gen Heartec platform. However, it falls short of 201mm in length, 89mm in width and 42mm in wheelbase. However, the Alto K10 sits taller by 46mm. There is a significant difference in boot size as well with Kwid having an advantage of 165 litres over the Alto K10.

Considering that the Alto K10 only comes solely with a 1.0-litre engine, we have put it on a scale with the equivalent version of the Kwid. On paper, the Alto K10 comes close to the Kwid in terms of power output but takes a hit in the torque department. Both the cars come with the option for manual as well as automatic transmission.

Like all Maruti Suzuki cars, the Alto has priced quite aggressively considering that the tag begins at almost Rs 75,000 lower than the Kwid. Having said that, the top variant of the two is quite close to each other. The Alto K10 comes in four variants while the Kwid in its 1.0-litre variant is also available in four.
Takeaway
If one is speaking of the entry-level hatchback segment, where this duo operates, price is the name of the game. And Alto's affordability has been a major factor in its success. Even after adding significant new and modern features, the car undercuts the Kwid by almost 75,000 which is quite impressive. In addition to this, the Maruti Suzuki badge, over time, has grown to be one of the most reliable names in the country with an impressive network of service stations.
