The Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 gets a big update and lots of modern equipment.
Maruti Suzuki has just launched the Alto K10 at a starting price of Rs 3.99 lakh, which goes up to Rs 5.83 lakh. While that may seem slightly expensive for an Alto, keep in mind that Maruti Suzuki has given it a substantial update, both inside and out. So, here are the top five new bits on the 2022 Alto K10.
Infotainment
Maruti Suzuki has added a lot of crucial tech-related features to the new Alto K10. It comes with a 7-inch touchscreen Smartplay Studio infotainment system, which supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with AUX, USB, and Bluetooth connectivity.
Steering-mounted controls
The Alto K10 now gets steering-mounted controls for media and a dedicated button for voice commands. Additionally, the (new) digital speedometer shows the average and instantaneous efficiency figures and distance to empty, and it also has a gear position indicator.
Keyless entry!
Yes, if you go for the VXi+ variant of the Alto K10, you get remote keyless entry, in addition to central locking and speed-sensing auto lock. All variants get a remote unlock for the fuel lid and boot.
Safety
All variants of the Alto K10 come with dual airbags, ABS, and EBD, as well as rear parking sensors and headlamp levelling. It is good to see most of the safety features being offered across all variants, although higher-spec variants get an impact-sensing door-unlock feature.
Powertrain & Platform
The Alto K10 gets a Dual Jet 1.0-litre naturally-aspirated engine with Dual VVT technology. The engine makes 65bhp and 89Nm and is paired to either a five-speed manual or an AMT (AGS, as Maruti likes to call it). You won’t break the sound barrier in the new Alto K10, but it won’t break the bank either, thanks to a claimed fuel efficiency figure of 24.39kmpl (MT) / 24.90kmpl (AGS).
The Alto K10 is also based on the Heartect platform, which it shares with other Maruti products, like the Swift and Baleno. And it's likely to make the Alto even nicer to drive and give it a more sophisticated ride, but we'll only know for sure once we drive it.
Bookings for the Alto K10 are already open, and deliveries will start soon too. You can check out our other stories for more information on the new Alto K10.
