The 2022 Lexus NX gets sharper styling and more equipment.
Lexus has always been a bit of a niche player, but given the increasing popularity of SUVs, it has updated the NX to take on rivals like the Audi Q5, Volvo XC60, Mercedes-Benz GLC, and BMW X3. Under the hood of the updated NX sits a petrol-hybrid duo, while its exterior gets revised styling. Even the interior has been thoroughly refreshed.
2022 Lexus NX 350h: Styling
The NX now gets a larger spindle grille and a single-piece design for the LED headlamps, with an L-shaped DRL. The rear now gets a lightbar, which connects the redesigned L-shaped LED taillamps. There are also new bumpers, both at the front and the rear, and a new design for the alloy wheels.
Inside, the NX now gets a new steering wheel with touch-sensitive controls, a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system (larger 14-inch screen offered), and a digital instrument cluster. The interior, which was previously laden with plenty of switches, now gets fewer physical controls, as most of them are integrated into the touchscreen.
2022 Lexus NX 350h: Features
In terms of features, the NX 350h gets a 360-degree camera system on some variants, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a head-up display, wireless charging pad, soft-close doors, a power-folding rear bench, a panoramic sunroof, 64-colour ambient lighting, and a Mark Levinson surround sound system, among others.
The active safety kit includes adaptive cruise control, lane departure alert and pre-collision braking, and more.
2022 Lexus NX 350h: Powertrain
The new NX gets a 2.5-litre petrol engine, which produces 189bhp and 239Nm, along with electric motors, which bring the total power and torque outputs to 243bhp and 369Nm, respectively. The power is sent to all four wheels via an ‘e-CVT’, which has six ‘steps’ that are said to reduce the rubber band effect of conventional CVTs.
