Hyundai has launched the 2022 Venue compact SUV in India at a starting price of Rs 7.53 lakh (ex-showroom) in India. This is the first mid-life update for the car, and it comes with changes in terms of both cosmetics and features.
The changes to the exterior of the new version are in line with those of the facelifted Hyundai Creta and Tucson. At the front, the grill is now squarer and has new inserts. The DRLs are now sleeker and more angular. The new Venue sits on a set of new alloy wheels, and at the back, the car gets new connected split-LED taillights and redesigned bumpers.
While the exterior changes are plenty, the story is different inside. The cabin now gets a black and cream colour scheme, making it look more premium. In addition to this, the Hyundai Venue also gets a digitised driver’s display from the Kia Carens, while the 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system now comes with Alexa and Google voice assistant support.
New features that have made their way into the new model come in the form of reclining rear seats, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control, a single-pane sunroof, cruise control, wireless phone charger, and keyless entry with push-button start. However, the new model gets rid of the Bose audio system.
In terms of mechanicals, the new Venue continues with the existing powertrain options. This means that there is a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol, outputting 118bhp and 172Nm of torque, with an option of either a 6-speed iMT or a 7-speed DCT. Then there is a 1.2-litre petrol engine, delivering 81bhp and 113Nm of torque, which gets a 5-speed manual transmission option. The diesel option is the same 1.5-litre unit, which produces 98bhp and 240Nm of torque and is mated to a sole 6-speed manual transmission.
In terms of safety, the car gets 6 Airbags, automatic headlamps, cornering lamps, a parking-assist rear camera, with dynamic guidelines, vehicle stability management, tyre pressure monitoring system (Highline), hill-assist control, ABS with EBD, and electronic stability control (ESC).
The new Hyundai Venue will be available in seven colour schemes – Polar White, Typhoon Silver, Phantom Black, Denim Blue, Titan Grey, Fiery Red, and a dual-tone scheme of Fiery Red and Black (roof).
