Powered by Tata's Ziptron EV architecture, the new Tigor EV is the brand's second offering in the passenger EV segment.
The much-awaited 2021 Tata Tigor EV has been officially launched today, with prices starting from ₹11.99 lakh for the base XE trim and going up to ₹13.14 lakh for the top-spec XZ+ Dual Tone option. There are three trims on offer – XE, XM & XZ+ – and two exterior colour options – Signature Teal Blue & Daytona Grey.
Powering the new Tigor EV is an IP 67-rated 26kWh liquid-cooled Li-ion battery pack that develops 74bhp and 170Nm of torque. The PMSM motor is mated to a single-speed transmission. This gives the Tigor EV a 0 – 60km/h time of 5.7 seconds. In terms of range, the new Tigor EV claims an ARAI-certified figure of 306kms on a single full charge.
In comparison, the Nexon EV is powered by a bigger 30.2kWh battery pack that puts out 127bhp and 245Nm of torque. It offers an ARAI-certified range of 312kms.
Equipped with the CCS2 charging standard, the new Tigor EV can be charged from 0 – 80% in 8 hours 45 minutes using a standard 15A plug point and with a 25kW DC fast charger, the same can be done in just 65 minutes. There's a 3-Year/1,25,000kms standard warranty on the vehicle and an 8-Year/1,60,000kms standard warranty applicable on the battery pack and motor.
On the practicality front, the new Tigor EV offers a 4-star Global NCAP crash test safety rating, a 316-litre boot, a 172mm ground clearance and offers plenty of modern, premium features, especially on the top-spec XZ+ trim.
