To celebrate fifty years of the Range Rover nameplate, Land Rover has updated the top-of-the-range Range Rover models with some new features, special editions and new Ingenium hybrid diesel engines.
Not too long ago, Land Rover pulled the wraps off the special, limited-edition Range Rover Fifty that commemorates the 50th anniversary of one of the most famous nameplates in the automotive world. In continuation of this, Land Rover has unveiled the updated 2021 Range Rover & Range Rover Sport product families that get some new special editions, enhanced features and most importantly, a new range of straight-six Ingenium diesel engines with mild-hybrid tech. Like before, the petrol variant line-up consists of non-hybrid, mild-hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and supercharged V8 versions.
Starting off with the exterior changes, the 2021 models do not feature any major updates (the silhouette and overall shape remain unaltered). Instead, subtle styling updates come in the form of some new customisation options (wheel designs, interior colour options and some new exterior colour choices, etc.).
Feature-wise, the 2021 Range Rover & Range Rover Sport line-up offers Android Auto & Apple CarPlay connectivity, Executive Class Seating (optional on Vogue SE and standard on Autobiography trim) and up to eight 4G WiFi connections as standard. Further, a new cabin air ioniser with a dedicated PM2.5 filter takes cabin air filtration to the next level. A three-zone ambient lighting setup with fully-controllable tri-colour LEDs adds a bit of night-time flair to an otherwise luxurious & functional cabin. There are also four kinds of LED lighting options available on the 2021 Range Rover Sport – Premium (not available on the Range Rover), Matrix, Pixel & Pixel-Laser.
The most significant update, however, comes in the form of an all-new Ingenium straight-six diesel engine line-up (with mild-hybrid assistance) that replaces the erstwhile SDV6 and SDV8 diesel engines on both models. In total, there are three diesel engines and five petrol engines available across the 2021 Range Rover line-up. On the 2021 Range Rover Sport, the same number of diesel engines and six petrol engines are on offer. Listed below is the detailed engine line-up for both models:

Apart from the Range Rover Fifty, the 2021 Range Rover gets two more Special Editions – Westminster & Westminster Black Edition. Likewise, the 2021 Range Rover Sport Special Edition line-up gets two new additions – HSE Silver & HSE Dynamic Black.
While a formal launch and price announcement is yet to happen, the updated Range Rover and Range Rover Sport models are already available to order across all JLR dealerships in India.
The 2021 Range Rover can be ordered with either the 3.0-litre inline-six petrol motor (P400) or the 3.0-litre inline-six MHEV diesel (D300). Like before, both the Long Wheelbase (LWB) and Short Wheelbase (SWB) versions will be available to order, and as a bonus, some units of the Westminster Edition, Westminster Black Edition and Range Rover Fifty will also be available in India (LWB only).
The 2021 Range Rover Sport, on the other hand, offers two petrol engine options (P300 & P565) and a single diesel powertrain (D300 - same as the Range Rover).
