The all-new generation of the Force Gurkha is likely to break cover next month. It will be marketed as a lifestyle off-road SUV – a segment that the Mahindra Thar currently dominates.
Force Motors has officially teased its upcoming 2021 Gurkha SUV. The 2021 Force Gurkha will debut in its second-generation avatar soon. The new SUV will continue with the body-on-ladder chassis layout. Force has confirmed that it has been developed completely from the ground up. There will be a coil-spring suspension arrangement on all four corners, which are expected to improve its ride quality substantially.
While the underpinnings will be all-new, the styling will be very similar to the previous-generation Force Gurkha. The new Force Gurkha will retain the pair of circular headlamps and boxy grille design. The SUV will be sold with a three-door configuration. A five-door body style, however, is expected at a later date. The 2021 Force Gurkha will also have two jump seats at the back, behind the second row.
The engine will be a BS6 compliant 2.6-litre turbo-diesel unit, with a five-speed manual gearbox. To suit the Gurkha’s off-road credentials, the new SUV will be offered with a transfer case 4x4 system.
The previous model was offered with three manual mechanically locking differentials – a front one, a rear one, and a centre diff-lock. The upcoming Gurkha is likely to get the same layout but this time with automatic diff-lockers. In terms of safety, the Gurka will come with airbags, reverse parking sensors, and ABS.
The price is expected to be announced in September 2021. The new Force Gurkha will likely be positioned between its two key rivals, the Mahindra Thar and the 2021 Isuzu D-Max V-Cross.
