The locally-produced 2021 BMW 6 GT facelift arrives with a reasonable price hike, refreshed styling & better features.
The BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo facelift, or simply the 6 GT, was unveiled globally in May last year and after almost a year, the updated Grand Tourer has reached our shores. The 2021 BMW 6 GT facelift has been launched with special introductory ex-showroom prices, starting from ₹67.90 Lakh for the entry-level 630i M Sport. The 620d Luxury Line carries a price tag of ₹68.90 Lakh (previously priced at ₹66.50 Lakh) and the top-spec 630d M Sport has been launched at ₹77.90 Lakh (previously priced at ₹77 Lakh). The eagle-eyed readers will have noticed that the outgoing 6 GT offered the 630i variant in the Luxury Line trim, which was priced at ₹65.90 Lakh.
The most noteworthy cosmetic updates come in the form of new, aggressive-looking front and rear bumpers, new LED Adaptive headlamp units with signature L-shaped accents, a chunkier kidney grille with a Singleframe housing and trapezoidal exhaust tips.
Like the variant & trim options, the 2021 6GT facelift offers the same engine options as before. A 2.0-litre (1,998cc) four-cylinder TwinPower Turbo petrol unit powers the 630i, which pumps out 254bhp and 400Nm of torque. Those after the diesel variants have a choice between a 2.0-litre (1,995cc) four-cylinder TwinPower Turbo unit in the 620d, which puts out 187bhp & 400Nm of torque, or the 3.0-litre (2,993cc) six-cylinder unit in the 630d that's good for 261bhp and 620Nm.
While an eight-speed Steptronic automatic transmission is fitted as standard (Steptronic Sport in the M Sport derivatives), all variants benefit from a new Adaptive two-axle Air Suspension (standard fitment) that offers self-levelling, an individual damper for each wheel and auto ride-height adjustability depending on the speed of the vehicle.
In terms of features & equipment, the 620d Luxury Line offers the standard BMW drive modes, cruise control, an active rear spoiler, full-LED Adaptive headlamps, auto tailgate, a fully digital 12.3-inch instrument cluster and BMW ConnectedDrive that offers wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, a 464W 16-speaker Harman Kardon Surround System, iDrive Touch, BMW Live Cockpit Professional (a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, voice control, BMW OS 7.0), BMW Virtual Assistant, a Rear Seat Entertainment package & wireless phone charging, to name a few.
In case you go for the top-spec 630d M Sport, you'll be treated to some additional and advanced features such as launch control, BMW Laserlight headlamps (the offer 650m illumination range), BMW Display Key, keyless car entry, soft-close doors, BMW Gesture Control, multifunction M leather steering wheel, 360-degree surround-view camera, and Nappa leather upholstery, to name a few.
The M Sport models also benefit from two exclusive paint shades – Bernina Grey and Tanzanite Blue.
