The Rapid’s 1.0-litre TSI motor now also comes paired with a 6-speed torque converter. Launched in 5 variants, the Rapid automatic starts at Rs 9.49 lakh. Bookings for the Rapid TSI AT have already commenced for a minimum amount of Rs 25,000.
A little over three months after the introduction of the Rapid 2020, Skoda has now added the option of an automatic transmission. The Rapid TSI AT is now on sale in 5 variants, with its price starting at Rs 9.49 lakh. The top-end Monte Carlo variant carries a price tag of Rs 13.29 lakh. Skoda commenced bookings of the Rapid automatic towards the end of August. Deliveries, however, will begin on 18th September.
As you’d expect, the Rapid automatic continues with the same 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol motor, which pushes out 108.5bhp and 175Nm. The engine comes paired with a 6-speed torque converter unit. Skoda claims that the Rapid AT returns 16.24km/l under standard test conditions.
We’ve already brought you a detailed review of the Rapid 1.0 TSI with the manual transmission option. Needless to say, the Rapid AT looks identical, with the same Skoda signature butterfly grille at the front flanked on either side by projector headlamps with DRLs. Aside from the obvious change of the gear lever, the interior too remains identical – not just to the MT but also to the previous avatar.
The Rapid TSI AT competes with other 3-cylinder turbo petrol ATs, like the Volkswagen Vento and the Hyundai Verna, aside from the recently launched all-new Honda City and the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.
