The 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLC marks the debut of the brand's MBUX infotainment system in India.
The 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLC has been launched in India in two variants, with prices starting from ₹ 52.75 lakh for the entry-level GLC 200. The top-spec diesel GLC 220d, on the other hand, is priced at ₹ 57.75 lakh (all prices are ex-showroom). The outgoing model had a starting price of ₹ 52.11 lakh (old GLC 220d).
In terms of outer changes, the 2020 GLC features a redesigned front fascia, with sleeker full-LED headlamps and C-shaped DRLs. Also, the bumpers have a new profile now, thanks to the reworked air vents and intakes. While the side profile and overall silhouette have not undergone many alterations (new alloys, however, lend the 2020 GLC a refreshed side profile), the rear fascia has been changed entirely (as per Mercedes' latest design language) that now features new LED taillamps with rectangular lamps and a redesigned rear bumper.
In terms of engine, the 2020 GLC is now powered by the Mercedes' new-gen four-cylinder motors that are BS-VI compliant. While the GLC 200 now gets an M 264-series 2.0-litre turbo petrol motor (replacing the M 274 unit), the GLC 220d gets the familiar OM 654-series 2.0-litre diesel (replacing the OM 651 unit). The GLC 200 puts out 195bhp and 320Nm, while the GLC 220d churns out 192bhp and 400Nm. Both variants get Mercedes' 4MATIC All-Wheel-Drive system and a 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission as standard.
The biggest change inside the 2020 GLC is the fitment of Mercedes' latest infotainment tech – the MBUX system. The 'UX' refers to 'User Experience'. The MBUX system features a 10.25-inch tablet-style central touchscreen perched on the dashboard and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster instead of analogue dials. The MBUX system's USPs include gesture & voice command functionality. With the MBUX system, customers will also get access to MercedesMe services.
As for ownership convenience, the Star Ease maintenance packages for the 2020 GLC 200 and GLC 220d are priced at ₹66,100 and ₹75,900, respectively.
