Following the announcement of the top ten finalists for the 2019 World Car Awards, esteemed jury members have further increased the excitement with the announcement of the 'Top Three In The World' finalists at the ongoing Geneva International Motor Show.
On February 7th 2019, the esteemed 2019 World Car Awards jury panel, of which Mr Dhruv Behl (Editor, autoX) is a member, had announced the top ten finalists for the World Car of the Year (WCOTY) award. The top five finalists in five other categories, including Luxury, Performance, Green, Urban, and Design had also been announced. Now though, the competition has been narrowed further with the announcement of the 'Top Three in the World' for each category. While the final award ceremony is scheduled to take place at the New York International Auto Show on 17th April 2019, in the presence of the 86-member jury, we bring you a list of the top three contenders from each category...
In the World Car of the Year category, the top three finalists that have made it through from the second list of 10 contenders are:
- Audi e-tron
- Jaguar I-PACE
- Volvo S60/V60
In the World Urban Car of the Year category, the top three finalists are:
- Hyundai Santro
- Kia Soul
- Suzuki Jimny
Likewise, the World Luxury Car of the Year category finalists comprise of:
- Audi A7
- Audi Q8
- BMW 8 Series
In the World Performance Car of the Year category, the top three finalists are:
- Aston Martin Vantage
- McLaren 720S
- Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe
Likewise, the World Green Car of the Year category finalists comprise of:
- Audi e-tron
- Hyundai Nexo
- Jaguar I-PACE
In the World Car Design of the Year category, the top three finalists are:
- Jaguar I-PACE
- Suzuki Jimny
- Volvo XC40
In 2018, the Volvo XC60 had won the World Car of the Year award while in 2017, the crown went to the Jaguar F-PACE.
