Porsche's Macan range gets an upgrade with the addition of the 2019 Macan S; makes its debut with a new turbocharged V6 engine.
After launching the 2019 Macan in Europe at the Paris Motor Show in October, Porsche has now expanded the its compact SUV range by updating the performance version of its baby SUV, the Macan S. While the changes seen in the standard car can be found on this one as well, what makes the 2019 Macan S noteworthy is that it has been launched with a new three-litre V6 turbocharged petrol motor. The new power mill puts out 349bhp and 480m of torque, a 13bhp and 20Nm increase over the previous model. The standard Macan comes fitted with a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine which develops 242bhp and 370Nm of torque.
The new V6 motor features a central turbo layout as the turbocharger is located in the inner 'V'. This results in a shorter travel path for the exhaust gases between the combustion chambers and the turbocharger, providing a near-seamless boost with virtually no turbo lag. The new turbocharger also benefits from the 'TwinScroll' tech which provides higher torque figures at lower speeds. As per Porsche, the new Macan S can reach 100km/h from standstill in just 5.1 seconds. However, this is true for when the optional Sport Chrono Package has been loaded. The top-speed figure stands at 254km/h.
The new Macan S also offers all the changes as the standard 2019 Macan, like the three-dimensional LED light bar at the back, LED headlights up front and the new Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system with a 10.9-inch touchscreen. Additionally, the Macan S can also be equipped with the optional Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB).
The arrival of the new Macan in India is yet to be confirmed.
