The teaser video comes out just days after images of the new 911 testing in extreme conditions had surfaced online; new 911 to make its global debut at the upcoming Los Angeles Motor Show.
Porsche has been building up to the launch of the upcoming 8th-gen 911 for quite some time now. However, it seems that the German marque had one last teaser video up its sleeve which it has released just a few days before the car's global unveiling at the 2018 LA Motor Show.
The new, '992' generation of the 911, to begin with, is expected to launch in the Carrera S guise which will retain the 3.0-litre turbocharged flat-six motor as before. However, the power output of the new Carrera S is likely to be matched to that of the current-gen GTS model. So, expect the 8th-gen 911 to produce around 450bhp, with a 0-100km/h time of 4 seconds.
The flat-six in the upcoming car will also feature a new intake system, injectors and intercoolers as well as particulate filters in the exhausts so that it can meet the new emission regulations. Despite the added bulk of the filters, Porsche has managed to keep the weight of the new car the same as that of the outgoing model by increasing the use of aluminium in the car's overall construction. After the Carrera, the new 911 is also expected to be offered with a hybrid powertrain for the first time in its long history. After its LA Motor Show debut, the new 911 will make it to the European markets in early 2019.
