Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) officially opened bookings of the 2018 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport towards the end of April. Now the company is getting ready to debut both the models in India. Although the invitation reads ‘special preview’ we expect the JLR to launch both these models on 28th June.
Both these updated models get a few but noticeable changes on the outside as well as inside the cabin. In line with the new Range Rover design language, both the models now have a sleeker grille than before, LED headlamps and reprofiled headlights. The front and rear bumpers have also been remoulded. The twin exhausts are now integrated into the rear bumper to add to the sporty appeal. With this update, both these Range Rovers will look more identical to the newly launched Velar. Changes on the inside include an updated touchscreen infotainment system that now comes with gesture control, executive class rear seating option, heated stone massage function, gesture-controlled sun blinds and more.
The 2018 Range Rovers will come with V6 and V8, petrol and diesel engine options to choose from. The Range Rover as well as the Range Rover Sport will come fitted with a 3.0-litre V6 diesel as well as a 4.4-litre V8 diesel. While the former is good for 255bhp and 600Nm, the latter makes 335bhp and 740Nm. The gasoline powered offerings also get a 3.0-litre V6 option putting 335bhp and 450Nm to the ground. The largest engine of them all, however, is the 5.0-litre V8 petrol that pumps out 518bhp and 625Nm. All of these engines come paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The Range Rover Sport is expected to be priced around the Rs 1 crore mark while the Range Rover is likely to demand around Rs 1.75 crore (ex-showroom).
