Mercedes will unveil the new A-Class on February 2, 2018.
Mercedes-Benz has dropped the first teaser of the new A-Class ahead of its global debut on February 2, 2018. Like all teasers, Mercedes’ teaser reveals only the bare minimum here – just the front fascia of the car in a dimly lit room. There are, however, a few things that we already know about the new hatchback.
If you look at the image closely, you’ll find that the front-end of the new hatchback has a striking resemblance with the new CLS – those arrow-shaped LED headlamps and the new grille. You can expect it to be a miniature version of the saloon, minus the boot.
While the exterior will only be revealed in a week’s time or so, Mercedes had already shown the interior of the new model a couple of months ago. The cabin of the new A-Class will be all-new and will be dominated by two 10.25-inch touchscreens – much like the new E-Class – in the top-spec trim. Two 7-inch screens will be part of the standard package. The steering wheel is also new, and it’s the same design that’s seen in the S-Class.
Underpinning the new A-Class will be the evolved version of Mercedes’ MFA platform. As for the powertrains, expect the current set of petrol and diesel four-cylinder engines to continue in the new model. The bonkers A45 AMG version will also be offered, whereas a little less powerful A35 AMG version – with around 300bhp – is also rumoured.
More details will be out during the official unveiling at Amsterdam over a live session on the Internet. The new A-Class will make its first public appearance at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. Given that the A-Class is one of the popular cars for Mercedes-Benz India, expect it to arrive on our shores soon after its global launch – most likely by end of 2018.
