The entry-level AMGs will be getting aesthetic enhancements and added equipment very soon.
Mercedes-AMG is all-set to introduce the facelifted versions of CLA 45 and GLA 45 performance cars in India on November 7, 2017.
Both these cars have been previously sold in India in their pre-facelift avatars. With the facelift, both models gain cosmetic updates inside out to keep them fresh and competitive, which goes in-line with the facelifted standard versions of these cars which were launched in India earlier in 2017.
Powering the two AMGs is the same 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbo-petrol motor capable of producing 375bhp and 475Nm, mated to a 7-speed dual clutch gearbox, which sends power to all the four wheels through Merc’s 4MATIC AWD system.
The CLA 45 and GLA 45 remain in a class of their own because their global rivals like Audi RS3 and RS Q3 are not sold in India. However, these cars face fierce competition form Merc’s own C43, which is based on the bigger C-Class saloon, and draws its power from a V6 mill, that generates higher torque output. On the other hand, Volvo also sells the S60 Polestar in India, which also features a 6-cylinder motor, and comes significantly cheaper.
The current CLA 45 is priced in India at Rs. 72.66 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. Expect the facelifted version to demand slightly more than this price, while the new GLA 45 will cost around Rs. 3 lakh - 4 lakh more than the CLA 45. In comparison, the aforementioned AMG C43 is priced at Rs. 75.09 lakh, while the S60 Polestar costs Rs. 52.50 lakh.
