2017 Range Rover Evoque gets the Jaguar Land Rover group's new 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel engine in India.
Land Rover has launched the 2017 Range Rover Evoque in India, starting at a price of Rs 49.10 lakh and going up to Rs 67.90 lakh (both ex-showroom, Delhi). The biggest update on the new model is the introduction of the 2.0 Ingenium diesel engine, which debuted with the new Jaguar XF in India a few months ago.
The Range Rover Evoque is the first Land Rover vehicle that gets the Ingenium diesel powertrain in India, replacing the age old Ford derived 2.2-litre oil burner. The new engine is a 2.0-litre in-line four turbo that churns out 177bhp and 430Nm. Power is sent to all four wheels via a 9-speed automatic gearbox. Since the engine is around 20 kilograms lighter than the old engine, it’s more efficient and cleaner, claims the company. Land Rover is also expected to bring the 2.0-litre Ingenium petrol engine for the Evoque early in 2017.
Besides the new powertrain, the 2017 Evoque remains largely unchanged from the previous model, barring a few add-ons. On the inside, there’s a new 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system offered on the HSE and HSE Dynamic Trim. Other variants get the standard 8-inch screen.
As a part of the current update, the company has also launched a special version of the vehicle – called the Ember edition. The Evoque Ember comes with a bright red and black exterior colour theme, highlighting the vehicle’s sporty looks. It sports Santorini Black exterior shade matched with a Firenze Red roof.
