Isuzu MU-X receives a mid-life update in the international market. Even though Isuzu is yet to replace the MU-7 with the new MU-X in India, the Japanese car manufacturer is testing the MU-X here and the India-spec vehicle should see the light of day soon.
Coming back to the refreshed MU-X, this seven-seater gets new front and rear bumpers. What stands out are the new LED headlamps and tail lights. The MU-X’s front grille too receives a nip-and-tuck job and this SUV now sports bigger 18-inch alloy wheels, as compared to the 17-inch ones on the pre-facelift version. Apart from these exterior changes, the new MU-X also gets a new roof mounted spoiler.
The cabin looks and feels a lot more premium with wooden trims on the dashboard and on the doors. The MU-X comes with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with all the basic connectivity features. Like its D-Max pick up truck cousin, the MU-X houses a two-tier glove box and air condition vent-cooled cupholders, which ensure your beverage remains cool in summer. The SUV also comes with leather upholstery.
The MU-X is offered in two diesel engine trims — 148bhp 1.9-litre turbo diesel with 350Nm of torque and 167bhp 3-litre turbo diesel. The 1.9-litre is only available in the two-wheel drive, which is mated with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission. The bigger 3-litre powerplant is a standard four-wheel drive SUV, which gets a six-speed automatic transmission with hill descent control.
Unfortunately, we can’t put a timeline on when the MU-X will make its debut in India, but going by the upgrades, we hope its soon.
