Here are 8 facts you need to know about the all new Audi Q5.

The small SUV segment has been a quite popular in India, with BMW pushing the X3 and Mercedes introducing the GLC and Jaguar also joining in with the F-Pace. However, Audi’s offering in the segment, the Q5 has gone a bit too long in the tooth.

But there is an all new Audi Q5 coming which was recently revealed with brand new engines and styling. We take a closer look at the new Q5 and give you all the important information you need to know about the upcoming Audi Q5 SUV.

Design

The all new Q5 has received a complete styling change which has brought it in line with the company’s current design philosophy. At the front is the large signature Audi grille surrounded by a brushed aluminium frame. The headlamps are brand new with newly styled LED daytime running lights. The exterior styling also features bold character and shoulder lines that run from the front to the back of the car. The rear tail lamps are also new with LED lights and a more chiselled, yet conservative tailgate design. The interior is also styled similar to the treatment Audi has given its cars recently with similar technology like the TFT virtual cockpit and infotainment system.

Engine

Audi will offer the Q5 with a choice of three diesel and two petrol engines. However, for the Indian market, one petrol and one diesel engine are to arrive. The 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel TDI engine that develops a choice of 163hp or 190hp. it is unconfirmed which spec Audi is likely to bring to India at the moment. The petrol offering for the Audi Q5 will be the all new 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol TFSI engine that produces 252hp and 350Nm of torque.

Transmission

The petrol version will feature the 8-speed tiptronic transmission. The 2.0-litre diesel option will only get the 7-speed S Tronic transmission for the Indian market. The Quattro all wheel drive will be available as standard with petrol engine, but the diesel option may only get front-wheel drive.

Dimensions

The Q5 has a ground clearance of 200mm. The car’s length measures at 4,629 mm and is 1,898 mm wide and 1,627 mm tall, which means the dimensions of the car haven’t changed much from the previous generation. The wheelbase of the Q5 measures at 2,812 mm.

Features

The all new Q5 will come loaded with numerous features like Audi virtual cockpit high-resolution 12.3-inch screen, an additional infotainment system with an optional MMI navigation plus with MMI touch and an 8.3-inch display, a touchpad is integrated into the rotary pushbutton on the centre console. The navigation system will feature a new Personal route assist, Audi connect, a Bang & Olufsen Sound System with 3D surround sound and more.

Safety

The Audi Q5 will feature new safety technologies and driver assistance systems as well. They offered in three packages - Tour, Parking and Parking Advanced, in addition to Adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, Cross traffic assist rear, the exit warning system, collision avoidance assist and turn assist. Airbags and ABS with EBD will be offered as standard fitment in the new Q5.

Launch date

Audi has not yet confirmed the official date when they will launch the new Q5, but it is expected to arrive in India early 2017.

Expected Price

With the addition of features and technology, the car is expected to be priced slightly higher than the current model on sale in India. The new Audi Q5 can be expected to be priced at Rs. 52 lakh ex-showroom Delhi.
