First-generation Audi Q3 receives its third and final update.
Audi has once again rejuvenated the Q3. The facelifted model you see in the pictures here is the third albeit final update for Audi’s small luxury crossover since its global launch in 2011. The second-gen Q3 is in the works and will be out by 2018.
Billed as the 2017 Audi Q3, the updated version remains more or less the same as the current model. The powertrains are unchanged; only the exterior and interior have been worked upon – that too very briefly. It’s sort of a hit-and-miss affair.
Coming to the updates, the 2017 model adds a new trim to the range called the S line. This means it gets diamond-pattern inserts for faux air inlets and a new body coloured strip runs across the front bumper giving it a bit of a muscle like the full-blown RS derivative. The signature hexagonal grille and air-inlets now sport a glossy-black finish around borders.
In addition to that, the S line also gets a number of gloss-black details on the wheel arches, ORVMs, door trim, roof rails, spoiler, etc. The 19-inch alloy wheel design is also new and sports a gloss-black finish. Inside, there’s a similar kind of theme running. The inlays come with a black piano finish while the pedals and foot rest are made of stainless steel.
Internationally, the Q3 comes with three engine options – 1.4 and 2.0-litre petrol along with a 2.0-litre diesel - in different state of tune. These engines do not receive any updates. Other than this, the S line adds a sport suspension setup that comes with Audi Drive Select to alter damping.
Audi will launch the 2017 Q3 by the end of 2016 in Germany and other European countries. Expect the new model to make it into India sometime around the first half of 2017.
