It’s finally here and after we saw renditions and teasers and finally leaked images, it was only time till Ford came out and officially revealed the all-new 2015 Mustang. For the first time in over four decades the Mustang will go on sale with the right-hand drive option in certain markets thus opening up a whole new market.
Ford says that the car will be launched on the 17th of April 2014 which commemorates 50 years of the birth of this muscle car. It's as apt, as apt gets!
The Mustang now looks sleeker and bold. Developed under the ‘One Ford’ plan, the new Mustang is indeed a global car. Design boss Moray Callum explained that making the new Mustang “instantly recognisable” was a priority. With improved proportions and the bluff front end along with the forward-leaning, “shark-bite” grille, it strikes a chord with its fans and to be owners.
The biggest difference in the new Mustang is the new independent rear suspension which significantly improves the the ride quality. The front suspension too has been redesigned and the car now sits on chunky 19-inch wheels.
The latest Mustang is lighter too and the interiors see an eight-inch infotainment touchscreen in the centre of the cabin.
What is also new to the Mustang, is the 2.3-litre, 4 cylinder, 305bhp churning Ecoboost engine and Ford says that it is fun, powerful and pure aural delight.
It will come mated to the same six-speed manual and auto transmissions, so the paddle shifters on the steering will also be retained.
Much has changed in 50 years for Ford but what hasn’t is the emotion that the Mustang evokes and Ford has managed to keep this intact with the new breed of this muscle car.
