The Bugatti Chiron has finally been revealed at the Geneva Motor Show.
After defying the laws of physics with the Veyron, Bugatti has edited old text books earlier rewritten by them with figures that would leave Einstein, Newton and other sciencey people with egg on their faces.
Slapped with a €2.4 million pound “basic” (if there can be such a thing) price tag, Bugatti has finally uncovered the Bugatti Chiron, the long awaited replacement for the Veyron.
While the Veyron demolished performance figures and numbers, thus setting new boundaries humanly possible to produce by engineering a car, the Chiron takes those numbers and and pushes the bar off the scale. On the Chiron, the essentials include an 8-litre, W16 quad turbo Bugatti engine, 1500bhp, 1600Nm of torque (between 2000-6000 rpm), 0-100kkm/h in 2.5 seconds and limited top speed of 420km/h (for road). Bugatti says the Chiron can go even quicker. No electric motor or hybridity going on here.
“It is part of human nature to cross boundaries and set new records – to run 100 m faster than ever before, to fly even further into space and to enter new realms. This striving is also our driving force at Bugatti,” said Wolfgang Dürheimer, President of Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S.
“Bugatti has tested the limits of physics. There is no area where we have not achieved significant improvements. The Chiron is the quintessential ultimate super sports car: ultra-modern, incredibly fast, agile and powerful with a stylistically demanding design and the highest possible levels of comfort, “ he added.
Bugatti describes their new hyper car’s design as ‘a combination of significantly more “beast” with a very high level of “beauty”.’ The car sits on an all new carbon fibre monocoque tub, with a newly developed adaptive chassis with all the 1500 horses lighting up the 20/21 inch (front/rear) Michelin tyres specifically designed for the Chiron.
Around a 160 units of the Chiron have already been pre ordered, and Bugatti will only make 500 of them. The car will be officially launched sometime in autumn 2016.
The ultimate goal for the Chiron is to beat the world record set by its older brother to claim the status of the worlds fastest production super car… well officially at least.
The Chiron can be seen on the Bugatti stand in Hall 1 at the Geneva International Motor Show from March 1 to 13.
