Skoda Auto has announced that they have rolled out their 1.5 millionth unit of the third-generation of the Octavia.
At their main plant in Mladá Boleslav, Skoda have produced the 1.5 millionth third generation Skoda Octavia. The Octavia is produced in six countries which include the Czech Republic, China, India, Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan.
Since Skoda introduced the modern Octavia, 21 years ago, the company has sold over five million units globally making it the most successful Skoda model ever. The first generation of the Octavia started production in 1996, and was produced globally till the end of 2010 and found 1.4 million customers, world wide. Skoda produced the second generation of the model between 2004-2013 and was able to sell 2.5 million units globally. Skoda introduced the third generation in November 2012. By March 2016, the one millionth third generation Octavia was rolled out. By the end of 2016, another 400,000 units were produced, and in May 2017, the 1,500,000th unit of the third generation Octavia had left the production line in the Czech Republic.
The Octavia is available in Hatchback and Estate forms. In February 2017, Skoda updated the Octavia with redesigned front and rear sections, streamlined body and a wider track. This update on the sedan is expected to arrive in India soon. India is also expected to get the Octavia RS, a performance version of the car which may be launched sometimes late 2017 or early 2018.
