In 2019, Yamaha disrupted the global middleweight adventure market with the introduction of the Tenere 700. Four years later, the bike continues to be a popular choice among biking enthusiasts around the world. This holds true despite several new models in the market from renowned bikemakers outperforming the Tenere 700 in performance and technology. In a recent development, Yamaha has added another model to its well-liked Tenere 700 portfolio, claiming it is "aimed at riders with motocross or enduro experience who want added performance." The new Tenere 'Extreme,' which raises the bar for the standard model with greater ground clearance than any of the previous variations, features quality KYB suspension and a variety of dirt-focused chassis components. Furthermore, the Japanese brand is adamant that its most recent release will maintain the Tenere 700 at the pinnacle of its game.

Yamaha Tenere 700 Extreme Variant: Suspension Highlights
The stand-out element for this new model is its updated suspension system, so let's start with it first. The premium fully-adjustable KYB suspension systems on the Tenere 700 Extreme variant have 20mm more front and rear travel than standard systems, 230mm, and 220mm, respectively. A long-lasting Kashima coating is applied to the 43mm forks to provide smooth front suspension action. This coating helps to reduce stiction at slower speeds, and the Gold fork inner tube finish emphasises the bike's premium appearance. Apart from this, the new Tenere 700 Extreme also boasts the highest ground clearance in the Tenere lineup at 260mm. The new variant, therefore, goes on to beat the recently introduced World Rally version. It should come as no surprise that this also helps to raise the seat height to a remarkable 910mm.
Yamaha Tenere 700 Extreme Variant: Engine Specs
Speaking of the engine specs, the Tenere 700 Extreme retains Yamaha's famous CP2 engine, a 689cc, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, parallel-twin engine with a crossplane (270-degree) crankshaft. This unit is good enough to deliver a maximum power output of 72bhp and 68Nm of peak torque. The relatively simple steel tube frame with a double cradle inside of which the engine is housed is also carried on in an unaltered state.
Yamaha Tenere 700 Extreme Variant: Features and Components
The Tenere 700 Extreme now sports a rally-ready instrument cluster from Yamaha. The vertically positioned, five-inch, full-colour TFT display has three different themes, including a Rally Raid-style display with navigation. Additionally, a trip switch is conveniently located on the left side switch cluster.
The Extreme's other high-end features are limited to its use, and they comprise big titanium footpegs boasting 35 per cent more surface area, an aluminum radiator protector, a chain guide as well as a flat one-piece rally saddle. For a more rally-like appearance, the bike also has a big enduro front fender. The fender sports a separate lower section in order to resist dirt and debris. Aluminum spoke wheels with a Gold anodised finish complete the set.
