Yamaha India has surprised enthusiasts with the announcement of an upcoming launch event scheduled for tomorrow, January 9. Even though the company is keeping the reveal a secret, their teaser post has some hints. Yamaha has just unveiled its 300cc offerings, but what exactly is about to be shown is still a mystery.
The idea of an electric scooter could be there at first glance, but it's hard to believe Yamaha would use a virtual launch for just that product. It is worth mentioning that the Instagram image features the Yamaha Racing emblem. This makes us wonder if the virtual event will feature fresh and exciting colour options for Yamaha's sports bike. There has been no official word on whether this is a brand-new motorcycle or one of their sporty scooters.
Is Yamaha launching its first EV?
It is impossible to ignore the expectation that Yamaha could reveal its first electric scooter on January 9. As a first step into the electric vehicle (EV) market, the Japanese manufacturer not long ago unveiled a lineup of electric scooters at an event specifically for dealers. The Neo scooter brand from Yamaha has already earned a name for itself in the electric scooter market. It is marketed as a replacement for 50cc and 125cc ICE versions and boasts an impressive combination of practicality and sporty design.

The bigger Neo E01 is one of these options, and it's going to have the power of a 125cc scooter. The small Neo E02, in contrast, is expected to operate similarly to a 50cc scooter. A Brushless Direct Current (BLDC) motor and a detachable Li-ion battery pack are expected to power both scooters.
Cosmetic Tweaks?
Perhaps new colour schemes could be introduced for the FZ and FZ-X series. On top of that, Yamaha India might be getting ready to unveil the YZF R7 and MT-07, albeit that launch might be a few months away. The MT-03 and the YZF R3 are two of the twin-cylinder Yamaha motorcycles that are currently available. Both motorcycles share a 312cc parallel-twin cylinder engine and transmission combination that produces 41.4bhp at 10,750 rpm and 29.5Nm of torque at 9,000 rpm.

Because it is too soon to update recently released models like the R3 or MT-03—which were introduced just a month ago—the upcoming virtual launch will most likely focus on one of Yamaha's 125cc or 155cc bikes.
