Yamaha R3, MT-03 Price Reduced by Rs 1.10 Lakh in India, Here's How Much it Costs Now
Yamaha India has confirmed that the new prices for the R3 and MT-03 are permanent and not part of any stock clearance sale.

Yamaha India has reduced the prices of its R3 and MT-03 motorcycles by Rs 1.10 lakh each. The R3 is now priced at Rs 3.6 lakh and the MT-03 at Rs 3.5 lakh (ex-showroom), effective from February 1st. This is a permanent price change, not a limited-time offer for clearing old stock. With the new pricing, the Yamaha R3 is now more competitive against the Aprilia RS 457, Kawasaki Ninja 300 and KTM RC 390. The MT-03's price drop positions it strongly against the KTM 390 Duke and the upcoming Aprilia Tuono 457. Both bikes share the same engine and mechanical parts, with only differences in styling and riding position. Yamaha's price cut aims to strengthen its position in the entry-level sports bike segment, attracting more buyers in a competitive market dominated by KTM and Aprilia.

The Yamaha R3 and MT-03 both feature a 321cc, parallel-twin, DOHC engine that produces 42bhp at 10,750rpm and 29.5Nm of torque at 9,000rpm. This engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
Yamaha R3, MT-03: Design
The Yamaha R3 takes design inspiration from the brand's flagship superbikes, like the R7 and R1, featuring a full fairing, low clip-on handlebars, and rear-set footpegs for an aggressive riding posture. In contrast, the MT-03 is inspired by the MT-07 and MT-09, offering a muscular, streetfighter-style look with an imposing stance and a distinctive twin-LED headlamp integrated into a bold front cowl.

While both bikes provide a sporty ride, the MT-03 offers a more comfortable upright riding position thanks to its higher handlebars, compared to the R3's more aggressive, leaned-forward stance.
Yamaha R3, MT-03: Hardware and Features
The Yamaha R3 and MT-03 come with identical suspension systems, featuring a rear monoshock with 125mm of travel and KYB upside-down front forks with 130mm of travel. For braking, both bikes are equipped with a 298mm front disc and a 220mm rear disc, along with dual-channel ABS for improved safety. These components are mounted on 17-inch wheels with road-focused tyres, offering a stable and responsive ride.
