Yamaha launched 113cc scooter, the Fascino, to strengthen its share in this steadily growing segment. With an overcrowded segment, Yamaha is hoping that the Fascino's "rich and classy modern-retro" design will make it stand out.

The Fascino is powered by an air-cooled, 4-stroke 113cc engine, which uses a continuous variable transmission (CVT). It produces maximum power of 7bhp at 7,500rpm and torque of 8.1Nm at 5,000rpm. Yamaha claims that this new scooter returns a fuel economy of 66kmpl. It is a fairly light scooter as it weighs just 103kg, which according to Yamaha, contributes to both better fuel efficiency and handling.

The Yamaha Fascino measures 1,815mm in length, 675mm width and height is 1,120mm. Its wheelbase is 1,270 mm and has a ground clearance of 130mm. It also comes with telescopic suspension at the front and unit swing at the rear. The Fascino is available in five colours -- cyan, white, red cobalt and black.

At the launch, Masaki Asano, Managing Director, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd. said, "The Fascino has been developed eccentrically based on the concept of dynamic elegance, classy tailoring and balance of function and design. We as a youthful brand wanted to present the youth with a product that could fascinate them and Fascino, we believe, will certainly be able to do the job well."

Roy Kurian, VP-Sales & Marketing, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd. added, "India has the world's largest two-wheeler market with a total annual demand of approximately 16 million units (2014). Out of the total demand, the scooter segment constitutes 27% of the market, and is growing further year by year. The new Fascino is intended to further expand sales in the scooter category, which is expected to grow further, especially among the youth who have a keen interest in current fashion and trends."
