Yamaha has taken the wraps off the Aerox Alpha maxi-scooter in the Indonesian market. The latest version of the maxi-scooter has a more aggressive appearance and incorporates additional features; a new-generation 155cc Blue Core engine that comes with variable valve actuation (VVA) continues though. The 155cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC (single overhead camshaft), 4-valve motor is tuned to produce 15.1bhp at 8,000rpm and 14.2Nm of peak torque at 8,000rpm, up from 14.8bhp and 13.9Nm available with the Aerox 155 that is sold in India.
The 155cc Blue Core engine in the new Aerox Alpha comes mated to an Electric CVT (YECVT) gearbox, which, according to the company, offers a sudden surge of acceleration. The YECVT tech earlier debuted with the NMAX Turbo, and comes with two riding modes: T-Mode (commuting) and S-Mode (sport-touring). Also, the Alpha gets a 'Turbo Y-Shift' function, which helps boost acceleration with three levels: low, medium, and high.
