Aprilia is kitting up the SR 160 with some new features, colour schemes, and minor cosmetic changes. The new scooter will break cover soon, possibly with a marginal price hike over the outgoing model.
A test mule of the updated Aprilia SR 160 has been spotted. The Italian two-wheeler maker is expected to launch the new 2022 model year ((MY22) scooter by the end of this year. The highlight of the update will be an all-digital instrument cluster, which is the same unit that we have seen on the SXR 160. Aprilia will likely offer the Bluetooth connected suite, integrated into the instrument cluster, as an optional extra.
There also appears to be a slight change in the taillamp design. The body panels of the test mule were covered under camouflage wraps, hinting that the 2022 Aprilia SR 160 will break cover with updated colour schemes.
The mechanicals and cycle parts will continue to be the same. The engine will continue to be the 160cc single-cylinder unit, and there will be no change in the power output. The 2022 SR 160 will continue with 10.86bhp at 7,600rpm and 11.6Nm at 6,000rpm.
The updates we spoke about will be extended to the SR 160 Carbon and the SR 160 Race as well. An official announcement of the new scooter is expected in a month’s time, and the updates are expected to bump the price of the new Aprilia SR 160 by around Rs 5,000.
