September 2024 promises to be a thrilling month for both motorcycle enthusiasts and everyday commuters, as several manufacturers such as Jawa, Royal Enfield, and BMW Motorrad are set to introduce their new/updated models in India. While details about the majority of the two-wheelers are scarce at the moment, several spy images and teasers hint at technological advancements and fresh designs. Whether you're searching for a steady daily commuter or a robust adventure bike, this month's launches have something for every type of rider. Here’s a roundup of the most anticipated two-wheelers.
Royal Enfield Classic 350
The new Royal Enfield Classic 350 will be available for purchase in India from the first of September 2024, following its debut last month. The new edition differs from its predecessor with new paint options, features, and stylistic changes. With a blacked-out exhaust and engine, the bike is now available in a variety of colours, such as Dark Green with contrast chrome, Commando Sand, Emerald, Jodhpur Blue, Madras Red, Medallion Brown, and Stealth Black. It also comes with LED lighting on all variants, a gear-position indicator, a USB-C charging port, and adjustable clutch and brake levers.

Mechanically, the bike continues to use a 349cc single-cylinder J-series engine that produces 20.2bhp and 27Nm. This unit has a five-speed gearbox. Price-wise, the updated retro-roadster is expected to command a considerable premium over the outgoing model, which starts at Rs 1.93 lakh (ex-showroom).
New Jawa 42
Jawa will introduce the redesigned 42 in India on September 3. In contrast to the former 42, which Jawa debuted some time ago, the new Jawa 42 is expected to be all-new, featuring fresh hues and better style. At its heart, the all-new bike is expected to get a 334cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine that also propels the Jawa 350, producing 22.2bhp at 7,000rpm and 28.2Nm at 5,000rpm. The Transmission chores are handled by a 6-speed unit. While the price announcement is around the corner, the new Jawa 42 is speculated to fetch somewhere between Rs 2 lakh and Rs 2.10 lakh (ex-showroom).
BMW F 900 GS, F 900 GS Adventure
BMW Motorrad has begun bookings in India for the F900 GS and F900 GS Adventure, indicating an imminent launch, though no official date has been announced. In comparison to the Adventure version, the standard F 900 GS is better suited to off-road use. It has a thinner and more subtle appearance than its Adventure counterpart, which is designed primarily for touring with bulkier bodywork and road-biased tyres. However, in terms of engine, both motorcycles are identical, with a two-cylinder engine that debuted with the F 850 GS in 2018. The engine capacity is now raised from 853cc to 895cc, resulting in higher power and torque of 105bhp and 93Nm respectively. For reference, the F 800 GS produces 86bhp and 91Nm. With more performance and features, the bikes are expected to command a considerable premium over their predecessors, which sell for Rs 12.95 lakh ( F 850 GS) and Rs 13.75 lakh (F 850 GS Adventure), respectively.
2024 Hero Destini 125
Hero MotoCorp is expected to introduce the redesigned Destini 125 in India in the first week of September 2024. According to the patented design illustration, the scooter will have cleaner sidelines and a boxier appearance than its current version. It will likely include a triangle headlamp and apron-mounted indicators, along with a sleeker tail section. Other expected features include a new external fuel filler cap, a modified exhaust system, and a sturdy grab rail.
Given that's only a facelift, the scooter's mechanical specifications will probably remain the same, with a 124.6cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine coupled to a CVT, delivering 10.4Nm of peak torque at 5,500rpm and 9bhp at 7,000rpm. However, certain performance-enhancing changes could be expected. With several improvements over its predecessor, the new Hero Destini 125 may cost between 80,000 and Rs 85,000 (ex-showroom).

Bajaj Ethanol Motorcycle
After introducing its first CNG bike, the Freedom 125, Bajaj is preparing for the debut of its first ethanol-powered motorcycle in September. While exact details are scarce at the moment, market reports state that the bike could be built from scratch or upgraded from an existing model to operate on ethanol. It is quite likely that Bajaj would choose the second option, which will allow it to keep costs under control.
