TVS Motor Company recently rolled out the X, a new electric scooter at Rs 2.50 lakh (ex-showroom) in the Indian market. The TVS X will be the second electric scooter from the firm in India's lineup following the iQube. It is built on the recently created XLETON platform and incorporates a futuristic design approach. The TVS X has three ride modes: Xtride, Xtealth, and Xonic, and uses an aluminum alloy frame that is reportedly 2.5 times stiffer than conventional scooter frames. It also has selectable regenerative braking and LED headlamps that resemble vertically stacked cubes. As per the two-wheeler manufacturer, the TVS X seeks to raise the bar for the electric scooter market in the country with its remarkable performance, cutting-edge technology, and distinctive look. TVS X Electric Scooter: Battery Pack, Range and Charging Time
A 4.44 kWh battery featuring Nickel-Manganese-Cobalt (NMC) cells powers the TVS X electric scooter and is touted to have a range of 140-kilometre on a single charge. With an integrated controller, the RAM intake air-cooled motor produces a nominal power output of 9.17bhp and a maximum power output of 14.49bhp. Further, a top speed of 105km/h is possible with the TVS X.
The electric scooter can accelerate from 0 to 40km/h in 2.6 seconds and from 0 to 60km/h in 4.5 seconds. A 950W portable charger, according to TVS, can charge the battery from empty to 80 per cent in 3 hours and 40 minutes. The battery can be charged from 0 per cent to 50 per cent in approximately 50 minutes using a 3 kWh Smart X Home rapid charger. The price of the portable charger stands at Rs 16,275 (including GST).
TVS X Electric Scooter: Hardware
The TVS X will include front telescopic forks and a rear mono-shock system for suspension. 220mm front single-disc brakes and 195mm rear single-disc brakes, combined with single-channel ABS, will be responsible for braking duties. The electric scooter's seat height measures 770mm, and its ground clearance is 175mm.
TVS X Electric Scooter: Features
In terms of features, the TVS X electric scooter is equipped with the NavPro platform, also known as SmartXonnect, created by the automaker. The 10.25-inch HD tilt screen on the e-scooter allows customisation and supports features including video playback, gaming, and music. It will have 12-inch alloy wheels and a 19-litre under-seat storage space. Coming to the safety suite, the TVS X e-scooter has 'Smart Xhield' safety technology, which includes features like reverse assist, towing alert, smart hill hold control, geofencing, crash detection, overspeeding alert, and cruise control. Additionally, it has a live location-sharing capability for the passengers' safety.
TVS X Electric Scooter: Price and Bookings
The TVS X, which costs Rs 2.50 lakh (ex-showroom) and is currently the most expensive electric scooter on the market, is not eligible for the FAME-II subsidy. The reservations for the TVS X are currently underway and deliveries are expected to start in November this year, initially in Bengaluru and then throughout India by March next year. It is important to note that the first 2,000 buyers will receive a Smartwatch and a complimentary "Curated Concierge" package worth Rs 18,000 for free.
