The Ronin is touted to be a brand new motorcycle from the house of TVS, here's how it takes on the Yamaha FZ 25 on paper.
After playing its cards real close to the chest, TVS has finally launched the Ronin 225 in India. The motorcycle, as the company states, is built from the ground up as a brand-new product. Interestingly, the new Ronin is not confined to a specific type considering that it lies somewhere between a café racer and a scrambler. However, in terms of price and performance, a moniker that comes the closest would be the Yamaha FZ 25. So here’s how the two rank against each other on paper.
TVS Ronin vs Yamaha FZ 25: Design
It is to be accepted that the FZ 25 is an ageing badge in Yamaha’s lineup. No design ethos has remained the same since inception with a few tweaks to fit the modern times. The FZ 25 comes with a muscular stance with a significantly large fuel tank and a slightly raised and neat-looking tail section.
The Ronin, on the other hand, comes with a very unique design. It gets neo-retro elements similar to those of power cruisers, scramblers and more. Regardless of the same, the bike looks exceptionally good and proportionate.
TVS Ronin vs Yamaha FZ 25: Features
The Ronin comes loaded with modern tech and creature comfort features trip stats, gear shift indicator, adjustable levers, voice assistant, ride mode indicator, and TVS' SmartXonnect connected vehicle system with features such as turn-by-turn navigation, calls and SMS alerts.
As we mentioned before, the FZ 25 is a comparatively older badge which means the motorcycle does lose a few points in the same aspect. It comes with a motorcycle comes with features such as LED projector headlamps, LED tail lamps, LED DRLs, front and rear disc brakes, a fully digital instrument cluster and a few more.
TVS Ronin vs Yamaha FZ 25: Engine
The TVS Ronin is powered by a 225.9cc engine that delivers 20.1bhp and 19.93Nm of torque. The Yamaha FZ 25, on the other hand, gets a 250cc single-cylinder oil-cooled engine that delivers 20.51bhp and 20.1Nm of torque.
While the figures paper falls in pretty much the same ballpark, it should be noted that the FZ 25 is a whole 7kg lighter than the TVS Ronin which is bound to work in its favour.
TVS Ronin vs Yamaha FZ 25: Suspension and Brakes
The TVS Ronin scores more over the Yamaha FZ 25 in this aspect with its dual-channel ABS with switchable modes – Rain and Urban. In addition to this, the motorcycle also comes with USD forks with braking duties handled by a larger 300mm disc at the front and a 240mm disc at the back.
The Yamaha FZ 25, on the other hand, gets a dual-channel ABS, monoshock at the back and fat 41mm forks along with 282mm disc brakes at the front and 220mm rear discs.
TVS Ronin vs Yamaha FZ 25: Price
The price for the TVS Ronin starts at Rs 1.49 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Single Tone Single Channel ABS (Lighting Black or Magma Red) and goes up to Rs 1.71 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Triple Tone Dual Channel ABS (Dawn Orange).
